Speed-Bleeders

Plan-

what I want to do

Someone recommended that I check these out as a way to easily bleed the brake system in the Supra.  Each Speed-Bleeder has a spring loaded ball valve built in.  When the brake pedal is pushed down, the valve opens and allows the fluid to run out, and, when the pedal is released, the valve closes, and no air is drawn back into the brake system.  I had to get a set.

Project-

what I did

All I had to do was screw the old bleeders out and thread the new ones in (they already have thread seal on them).  As I did this along with a brake line upgrade, I knew that I would have large amounts of air in the system and figured this would be a good test.  Since I was replacing the fluid as well, I would have to bleed the lines until clean fluid was coming out, and the air would be long gone by then.  To bleed, I starting with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder, attached a clear hose to the bleeder and ran it into an old mason jar, opened the bleeder 1/4 turn and pumped the brakes, constantly refilling the brake fluid, until I saw new fluid in the line.  Way easy.

Difficulty-

things that made it hard

1- These bleeders come with a rubber cap over the internal end, but not the external one.  Be sure to transplant the rubber dust caps from your stock bleeders when done with each wheel.

Top

Problems-

with the product/install or that came up later

1- The new bleeders fit perfectly, but they are about a 1/2" longer than the stock ones.  Not a problem.

Payoff-

what I felt the "bang for the buck" was

Before, I had to coordinate with someone else either pushing the pedal while I opened and closed the bleeder valve or vice-versa.  Now all I have to do to bleed the brake system is loosen a bleeder 1/4 turn one at a time and pump the brakes.  This was so easy, and I can now truly bleed the brakes by myself without the use of some pump or expensive vacuum contraption.  Do this mod!

Upgrade-

benefits of the new item

Non turbo 82-97 P/N SB7100 (disk) & SB7100 (drum), Turbo 93-96 P/N SB1010, 70-81 P/N SB1010 (disk) & SB7100 (drum).  I'm pretty sure I used P/N SB1010 for my Supra

Built in check valve, has thread seal.
