Plan- |
|
|
I am rebuilding my engine due to a
rod knock.
As this forced me to by another vehicle (my
90 4Runner), I can now spend the time, and money, to make engine
upgrades to my Supra that I have dreamed of. Forged pistons
are designed to handle the added stress and heat of high horsepower
engines. There are a few other brands out there but
JE
pistons seem to be brand by which all others are judged.
Also, since I may have some cylinder wall scoring, the boring for
oversized pistons will remove this. |

Project- |

Right now these are sitting on my shelf waiting the money for the engine
work. |

Problems- |
|
|
1- My pistons came with a set of rings although they weren't supposed
to. |
|
2- According to the JE documentation provided, each wrist pin gets 2
snap rings per side for a total of 24. My set of pistons only came
with 12. I am waiting to hear whether I need more snap rings, or
if the documentation is wrong. |

Stock- |
|
|
|
There are Supras out there pushing 450+ horses with stock pistons.
The turbo pistons have a hole in the side skirt that directs oil onto
the wrist pin. |
